Thiruchendur Murugan Kovil

It is one of the major attractions in this destination. This temple is dedicated to Lord Muruga. The presiding deity is also called by different names, like Shanmugar, Senthilandavar, or ArumugaNayinar. There are also shrines that are dedicated to Lord Vishnu and Lord Shiva. It is a very ancient temple that is believed to have been constructed in the Vedic times as it finds mention in ancient scriptures.


The trip to the Murugan Temple is incomplete if you have not visited NazhiKinaru which is a breathtaking natural phenomenon. There are two wells, one huge almost 14 square feet well and another small, almost 1 square foot well. The smaller well has clear water while the larger one has sulphurous smell. People love taking bath here.

Dattatreya’s Cave

Also referred to as the Valli’s Cave, it is one of the major must-see attractions in Thiruchendur. It is situated on the sea shore, below the sandstone cliff and overlooks the sea. There are two images in the cave, Dattatreya and Valli, the consort of Lord Muruga.16 pillars form the sandstone mandapam of the cave. Ancient carvings can also be seen in the cave.

Shri Subrahmanya Swamy Temple

It is another popular temple located in Thiruchendur. Devotees visit the temple in large numbers to seek blessings from the divine deity. When visiting this temple, a sense of calm and mental peace is experienced by the visitors.

Kayalpatnam Beach

It is one of the popular beaches in Thiruchendur where people can love tranquil and exquisite atmosphere. This extravagant beach is frequented by families, couples and foreign travellers in large numbers.
